Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri on Saturday condemned Pakistan’s recent military actions as “escalatory” and “provocative,” asserting that India has responded in a “responsible and measured” manner while firmly rejecting false narratives spread by Islamabad.
Speaking at a joint press briefing by the Ministry of External Affairs and the Ministry of Defence on Operation Sindoor, Misri laid out evidence of Pakistan’s aggressive targeting of Indian military and civilian infrastructure. “Pakistan’s actions constitute provocation and escalation. In response, India defended and reacted in a responsible and measured fashion,” Misri stated.
Indian Army Colonel Sofiya Qureshi revealed that Pakistan had targeted over 26 sites along the Line of Control (LoC), International Border (IB), and key military installations, including a high-speed missile attack at 1:40 AM aimed at a Punjab airbase. “In a condemnable and unprofessional act, Pakistan also targeted health centres and schools near the Srinagar, Avantipur, and Udhampur Air Force Stations,” she added, underscoring Pakistan’s deliberate targeting of civilian infrastructure.
In retaliation, Indian forces launched precision airstrikes on strategic Pakistani military assets, including command and control centres, radar systems, and ammunition depots at locations such as Rafiqui, Murid, Chaklala, Sukkur, and Sialkot, with an emphasis on avoiding civilian casualties. “The targeting was surgical to minimise collateral damage,” Col Qureshi confirmed.
Wing Commander Vyomika Singh further exposed Pakistan’s disinformation campaign, debunking claims of damage to critical Indian defence systems, such as the S-400 at Adhampur, and airfields at Suratgarh and Sirsa. “These are false narratives designed to spread fear and undermine India’s defence capabilities,” she said, showing time-stamped images of undamaged installations.
Singh also confirmed that Pakistan is now moving troops towards forward positions, signaling potential offensive intent. However, she reaffirmed that Indian forces remain on high operational readiness and are committed to de-escalation, provided Pakistan exercises reciprocal restraint.
Foreign Secretary Misri concluded by urging the public to reject the “tissue of lies” being spread by Pakistan. “These attempts at misinformation are part of a broader propaganda effort. They will not succeed,” he said.
